Scan your Shopify store.
Free. Nothing installed.
Enter a storefront domain. Rank Sniper reads the pages your store already serves to any visitor and returns a composite legibility score, with SEO, AEO, GEO and AIO scores beneath it. No install, no account, and nothing is written to your store.

What the scan returns.
Today, on your result page.
For Shopify merchants, agencies and developers who want a measured starting point before changing anything. Everything below is what the result page renders now, apart from the two cards marked otherwise.
Legacy legibility score
One number out of 100 under rubric v1.0 — the current public methodology, labelled legacy on the result because the canonical Rank Score is still in development — with a band: agent ready at 80 and above, partially legible from 50, effectively invisible below that.
Four pillar scores
SEO, AEO, GEO and AIO, each out of 100 over the checks that fed it, under pillar layer v1.0 of the same legacy methodology. The weakest is flagged as the one to fix first; AIO shows a transactability sub-score. A check whose input could not be fetched is listed as not scored instead of counted against you, with one exception today: when no product page can be read, AIO’s offers and availability checks and the composite’s structured-data share still count as absent.
Coverage, stated
The product count and exactly what the score rests on — the full catalogue, or a stratified sample across it with the sample size and margin of error when the catalogue is too large to read in full.
A shareable result
The result has its own address to send to a developer or a client. It is kept out of search indexes, because a scan can score a store that never asked to be scored. A completed scan is re-used for 24 hours, with a re-scan on demand.
Full findings, by email
The failing checks behind each pillar score, heaviest first, in your free HQ Merchant Command — reached by a one-time sign-in link sent to your email. The public page never shows check-level findings.
Rank Preview
The next free-scan format: SEO, AEO, GEO and AIO Preview scores and an overall Rank Preview, each with its coverage stated. No preview score exists until it ships, so none is shown here.
Public pages only.
Nothing behind a login.
The scan requests only URLs your storefront already serves to any visitor, identifies itself as RankSniperBot, and stops if your robots.txt disallows it. In fetch order:
- /robots.txt
- Read first. If it disallows RankSniperBot, nothing else is fetched. Otherwise it is checked, group by group, against 10 named AI crawlers — and against Googlebot and Bingbot for the SEO pillar:
- GPTBot
- OAI-SearchBot
- ChatGPT-User
- ClaudeBot
- anthropic-ai
- PerplexityBot
- Google-Extended
- Applebot-Extended
- Bytespider
- CCBot
- /products.json
- Shopify’s public product feed: product type, tags, vendor, description, variants with SKU and weight, options and images. Paginated at one request per second; above a ceiling, a stratified sample is spread across the whole catalogue instead of taking the first pages.
- Product pages
- Up to three, fetched as raw HTML with no JavaScript executed: Product JSON-LD (offers, price with priceCurrency, availability, shipping details), FAQPage, HowTo or QAPage markup, and the head — title, meta description, canonical and H1.
- /sitemap.xml
- Presence, whether it parses, and how many URLs it lists.
- /llms.txt
- Presence, and whether it points AI crawlers at the catalogue.
Four pillars.
Always in this order.
SEO, then AEO, then GEO, then AIO — from being indexed, to being quoted, to being cited, to being acted on. Each has a published definition.
SEO
Search engine optimisation
Whether conventional search engines can crawl, parse, and rank the catalogue.
Engage →AEO
Answer engine optimisation
Whether the catalogue can be lifted as a direct answer to a shopper's question.
Engage →GEO
Generative engine optimisation
Whether generative engines will cite this store when composing a recommendation.
Engage →AIO
AI optimisation
Whether an AI system can correctly parse and act on the record without guessing. Includes transactability as a named sub-score.
Engage →What the free scan
does not do.
The public scan is deliberately limited. Its numbers are real; its reach is stated.
- It installs nothing, needs no account and writes nothing. Rank Sniper has not written to any merchant’s store.
- It does not ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or any other engine anything. It measures what your storefront serves to the crawlers those engines send — structure, completeness and access — not what an engine answers.
- It does not run JavaScript. Structured data that appears only after scripts run is not seen, as it is not seen by any crawler that does not render pages.
- It does not read every product of a very large catalogue. Above the read ceiling it samples across the whole range and says so, with a margin of error.
- It is not the complete Shopify assessment. GTIN or MPN per variant, inventory state and dimensions need a connected scan through the Admin API Planned.
- It does not fix anything. Fixes arrive with the Shopify app Planned, which is not yet on the Shopify App Store.
- It does not score backlinks or domain authority, and it never publishes your store’s name: public statistics are redacted to a category and a SKU band.
Scan it now.
Then read the method.
The composite and the four pillar scores come back on their own page. The rubric shows every weight behind them; the pillars show what each discipline means.
